Take supervision outdoors.
How I can support your clinical work
I am passionate about using creative and experiential approaches to support people with their mental health and wellbeing needs, indirectly through the supervision of those working therapeutically with them. I support my supervisees in developing confidence in delivering integrated psychological therapy to meet the holistic and individual needs of the people they are working with.
I am primarily a relationally informed and nature-based clinician and supervisor, being trained in Cognitive Analytic Therapy and Taking Therapy Outdoors. In addition, much of my work is informed by third-wave CBT approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy.
How outdoor supervision can be restorative for you
The psychological and physical benefits of being outdoors are extensive. The impact of sitting in a room and constantly containing our clients’ loss and distress can be draining, impact our mental health, lead to burn out and compassion fatigue. Taking our clinical work and/or supervision outdoors enables us to share the work of containment and grounding with the natural environment. Nature can be our co-therapist and co-supervisor.
Part of the reason for radically changing the way I work, has been the need to re-establish work-life balance and deliver a therapeutic approach that not only supports the client, but supports the clinician too. Taking therapy outdoors, whether you choose to deliver therapy indoors or outdoors, can be restorative for us. It could be the very thing you need to counterbalance the weight of the clinical work you undertake.
Choosing the setting for you
I can offer supervision in a variety of settings including in person in my woodland garden clinic, outdoors in nature (see outdoor therapy page) and online via MS Teams.
